Frequently Asked Questions Can I dock at North Cove? Yes! North Cove is open for business 365 days a year and we wish to provide you with dockage whether you are a 20' day cruiser on the Hudson or a 180' Megayacht traveling the east coast or wishing to make the North Cove Marina you home for the season. The only challenge could be if our slips are already sold out. You can visit our on-line reservation page to check for slip availabilities. What is the largest boat North Cove can accommodate? We can accommodate Megayachts up to 180 feet in length. What is the deepest draft North Cove can accommodate? The depth of North Cove is 18 feet at MLW. The marina is even deeper along the south and north seawalls. There is a 4.5 foot tide in the marina. When entering New York Harbor, what are my requirements? Please check with the United States Coast Guard and the Department of Homeland Security on specific requirements for yachts arriving from foreign ports. Additionally, according to the Sandy Hook Pilots Association, foreign flagged yachts of 100 feet or greater are required to take a pilot onboard when entering the harbor. www.sandyhookpilots.com I have my own computer. Does North Cove offer wireless access? Yes, we offer wireless internet access. You will need a good antenna and there is a daily charge. We also offer a free internet computer onboard the Floating Classroom at North Cove. It's located in the back of the room on the bar. Free wireless internet service is also offered inside the Winter Garden. Do you have shower facilities at North Cove? The marina does not have shower facilities but there is a great New York Sports Club just one block to the north (102 North End Ave, New York, NY 10280). They offer a special "internet-only" two week trial pass for $20. This means you have to buy it on the internet and you must begin using the pass within 7 days of purchase (www.mysportsclubs.com/default.htm). But what a great deal! They have lockers, gym, weight room, treadmills, exercise classes and, of course, showers and fresh towels. All you need to do is walk the one block form the marina and be prepared to get pampered. If you do not wish to purchase the 2 week trial pass on-line, you can also pay $25 for a day pass. Is there fuel available at North Cove? No. There are two fuel docks directly across the river in Morris Canal (approximately 1/2 mile away). Is there a pumpout at North Cove? Yes. North Cove offers pump out. Where is the nearest Boat Chandlery? There is a West Marine store on West 37th Street between Fifth & Sixth Avenues. Their phone number is 212-594-6065. Because it is a small store, we recommend that you call ahead to make sure they have what you need in stock or you can also order anything on line and have it delivered to your boat c/o The North Cove. Can I dispose of used motor oil at North Cove? North Cove can't take oil itself but there are two nearby options.
Where can I provision my yacht? There is a new and very good Wholefoods store on the West highway just 3 blocks from North Cove. There are also many gourmet stores in New York City. When you arrive, we will have a list of our favorite provisions places delivered to your yacht. Where is the best place nearby for coffee, pastries and cakes? We recommend "Financier" inside the World Financial Center. There is also a Starbucks right next door. Where is the best place nearby for bagels? Pick a Bagel at the southeast corner of Embassy Suites Hotel serves up freshly baked and warm bagels every morning. Almost every option is available and they are delicious. If I need a package sent to my boat while at North Cove, what is the address? Please ship to: North Cove Marina Packages will be delivered right to your boat when they arrive. Regular UPS and FedEx deliveries arrive at North Cove around 4 p.m. each day. Where is the nearest Post Office? Just 2 blocks away and it is open late at night. The nearest taxi stand (and one of the best in the city) is located in front of Cafe Express on the corner of South End Ave and Liberty Streets. Just walk up the esplanade from the southeast corner of the marina and turn right. Most times, there are always taxis there. Evenings are sometimes more difficult and there might be a line but it usually moves quickly. To get back to the south side of North Cove from anywhere in the city, tell the taxi driver, "Battery Park City, corner of Liberty St & South End Ave." If going to the north side of North Cove, tell the driver "North End Avenue and Vesey St." Where is a nearby place to park? The closest parking garage is Gateway Garage located at in the gateway Plaza building directly to the south of North Cove (345 South End Ave). 212-321-2345.
