Golf Launch Captains & Mates

North Cove runs a launch service for a high-end golf club in New Jersey.  Members of the club ride the launch from Manhattan to Jersey City and back

Operations include 2 positions:

1) Mate - Person who greets the members and guests, ties and unties the launch from the dock and is primarily responsible for keeping vessel extremely clean.  No prior experience is necessary although boating experience is a plus.  Candidates must be super well-presented, personable and athletic (walk safely on a bouncing floating dock and the bow of a boat).

2) USCG Licensed Captain (OUPV level minimum) - Person to operate the boat and monitor and maintain the machinery and equipment.  Candidates must be super well-presented, personable and athletic (walk safely on a bouncing floating dock and the bow of a boat).  This vessel operates as an OUPV (6 or fewer passengers).

This is an outdoor position.  You will ride on a boat, see the harbor and feel the wind and fresh air.  The launch operates 6 days a week from Tuesday through Sunday.  Monday is the day off.  There are 2 shifts each day, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 2 to 9 p.m. (approximate end time, based on launch needs).  The launch departs every day from North Cove marina in Lower Manhattan.  This is where captains and mate report to work.

All employees must pass a pre-employment drug test and will be enrolled in a random drug testing program as required by the United States Coast Guard.  Compensation is $20 per hour for captains and $15 per hour for mates.  Captains and mates are assigned specific days per week.  You must be dependable and able to make all your assignments.  Captains and mates who demonstrate superior performance may be given additional shifts.  This is a seasonal position from mid-April through October.
