Marina Hostess

Dennis Conner's North Cove is New York City's mega yacht marina.  It is located on the Hudson River in front of the World Financial Center in Battery Park City, Lower Manhattan.  More details are at www.TheNorthCove.com

The marina is looking to fill the Hostess positions for the 2010 yachting season.  A hostess is responsible for:

  1. greeting yachts
  2. communicating with customers by phone and email
  3. processing of docking fees
  4. photographing the yachts
  5. getting interesting details from the yachts for welcoming emails

Candidates must be well presented, focused and professional.  This is a mega-yacht environment and candidates must fit the role.  Candidates must also be smart, educated and quick thinkers.  You must be able to process dockage fees on a computer quickly and accurately.  A background in the marine or hospitality industry is considered a plus.

This is an outdoor job.  The hostess works from a dock master booth which is located on a floating dock within the marina.   The booth is small (8 feet wide) with windows on all sides.  This position is for people who like to be outdoors and not for people who get seasick.

The marina has a hostess present 7 days per week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.  The week will be divided among 2 hostesses so this could be a full- or part-time position.

This is a seasonal position from April through October.  Exceptional candidates may be given year round work.  Compensation begins at $15 per hour.  Health insurance is offered after 6 months.
