She is a 77 foot sloop designed by Sparkman & Stephens.
She was built at Goetz Custom Boats in Bristol, Rhode Island and launched in July 1996.
She is fast and exhilarating and named for the famous ride whalers used to experience after harpooning a whale. Sleighride reach a top speed of over 24 knots.
This yacht is intended for high performance day cruising and occasional racing.
The hull and deck are carbon fiber with a balsa core which is vacuum bagged and baked. She is lightweight (32,500 pounds), yet strong and rigid so that she can push the limits of speed and excitement.
